Start point: Suntec City Mall
From 6am: Gather in front of Suntec’s Fountain of Wealth. Soak in the atmosphere of the 20,000 participants as you stand on Temasek Boulevard (closed to traffic specially for the Big Walk), and the open spaces in front of Towers 1, 5, and the convention centre.
7.30am: Flag off! Head down Temasek Boulevard toward Rochor Road, cross the Suntec grounds and exit into Nicoll Highway. See the Concourse and Golden Mile on your left, the scenic Kallang Basin on your right.
Turn into Stadium Road. And there’s a familiar sight for veteran Big Walkers – the National Stadium, the long-time base of the Big Walk. It’ll be nostalgic to walk past our former home.
Go on past the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and enjoy more views of the river on the pretty Tanjong Rhu Bridge. Remember to bring your cameras – you can take a breather here, and some great shots at the same time.
It’s condo country – follow the red brick road as we pass Tanjong Rhu View and Tanjong Rhu Road.
We enter the gates to the grounds of the future Marina East Gardens, off Tanjong Rhu Cross. Walk on this 900m unpaved nature trail, which skirts the Marina Bay golf course. Parents with young children and strollers, please be prepared and take extra care along this stretch!
Arrive at the Marina Barrage, at the end of our 5km route, and go across for a Super Sunday of activities for friends and families.
