Q: “Is the registration form the same as the indemnity form? Do I need to sign 2 forms?”

Q: “I can’t register in person. Can I fax my form to my friend to help me register? Is the faxed signature valid?”

Q: “I want to bring my 2-year-old son. Do I need to register him and cut out the TNP masthead for even a 2-year-old?”

Q: “I want to bring my pet dog. Can I do so?”

Q: “I’m under 21 years old. Can I sign up without getting my parent to sign the registration form?”

A: No. All participants under the age of 21 must get their parent / guardian to sign the registration form.

If your parents will be signing up with you at the registration booth, they can sign the registration form on the spot.

If not, you should download the registration form here, and get your parent to sign first before you head down to the registration booth.

Q: “I’m going overseas during the registration period. Can my friend register for me?”

A: Yes! You don’t have to be personally present to register. Just download the registration form here, fill it in and get your friend to bring it down to the registration booth.

The same goes for a Dad who wishes to sign up for his wife / children. Just bring all the completed forms + the required number of original The New Paper (TNP) mastheads to the registration booth.

So if Dad wants to sign up for himself, his wife and 2 children, he will need to bring down 4 registration forms + 4 TNP mastheads.

Q: “Do you accept company / group registrations like in previous Big Walks?”

A: This year’s Big Walk is labelled as a family event, so we are not accepting “company registrations” per se.

However, we welcome you and your colleagues to join us at the Big Walk together!

If you would like to help all your colleagues sign up altogether, just download the registration form here, and get each colleague to fill it in.

One colleague can then bring all the completed forms, together with the required number of original The New Paper mastheads, down to the registration booth. Click here for the schedule of when and where.

If you are helping 10 colleagues sign up, remember to bring 10 forms and 10 mastheads! There is no limit to the number of people you can help sign up.

Q: “If I’m helping 5 people sign up as a group, can I use just 1 masthead? Is 1 masthead enough for 1 family?”

A: No, it’s 1 original masthead per person, so 5 sign-ups = 5 mastheads.

Q: “What is a masthead? Which part of the front page do I need to cut out to register? Are only mastheads from a certain date allowed?”

A: Here’s what The New Paper masthead looks like. There are 7 different colours for the 7 days of the week.

We are accepting mastheads from 25 September 2008 (Thursday) onwards – the day we announced the Big Walk.

So, you should cut out the whole horizontal strip (as shown below), which includes the date, the day of the week, and The New Paper logo (with our name and the tick).

Q: “How big is the goodie bag? If I am registering on behalf of my friends, I may have problems bringing the goodie bags back. Is there any way we can make a separate arrangement for the goodie bag to be delivered to us?”

The goodie bags will actually be distributed during the Big Walk itself on 2 Nov.

At the registration booth, you will receive a coupon (about A5 size) that will allow you to collect the 2 goodie bags on 2 Nov: one at Marina Barrage when you’ve completed the 5km walk; the other when you take the free shuttle bus back to the Suntec City Mall from Marina Barrage.

So you don’t have to worry about being overloaded during registration!

Q: “Is the registration form the same as the indemnity form? Do I need to sign 2 forms?”

No, you just have to sign 1 form. The registration form = the indemnity form. The indemnity part is the bottom portion. So you just have to sign once!

Q: “I can’t register in person. Can I fax my form to my friend, to help me register? Is the faxed signature valid?”

No, a faxed signature will not be valid. We would need your original signature, as this is an indemnity document.

Q: “I want to bring my 2-year-old son. Do I need to register him and cut out the TNP masthead for even a 2-year-old?”

The Big Walk is opened to everyone, of all ages!

If you register your child, your family will receive an additional coupon for goodie bags, plus the other Big Walk souvenirs. So why not :)

Q: “I want to bring my pet dog. Can I do so?”

Unlike previous years, this year’s Big Walk is a one-way walk, with shuttle buses bringing walkers back to Suntec City Mall.
So please avoid bringing pets or bulky items that will be difficult for you to carry on the buses.

    Hi There,
Residents from Yuhua Zone 5 express an interest in this BIG WALK. The Yuhua RC5 committee is more tha willing to organise the event [normally a bus load of about 50 residens]. The catch here is how to get 50 New paper mastheads.
    Appreciate your suggestions.

    Dear Big Walk 2008 Organisers,

Thank you for organising such a wonderful events.

Appreciate if the orgniser can review the number of paritcipants by increasing, lets say 2000 to 5000. I think the present logistic plan and capacity should be able to accomodate the 10 to 20 percent increase in participants.

I and my family member of 10 had missing the weekend registration by the time we manage to get sufficient numbers of masthead required.

Will appreciate you could kindly look into the request so as more readers can participate ad enjoy in this wonderful events.
